I am a podcast fiend, or at least I was before quarantine. I didn’t realize how much time I spent commuting until I stopped commuting. But now that I don’t have to take a 30 minute bus ride to class (instead, I roll the 5 feet from my bed to my desk for “Zoom University”), I don’t have as much time to listen to all of my podcasts. However, there’s one podcast that has survived the culling, and now keeps me company when I do laundry or cook dinner: We’re Having Gay Sex.
This comedy podcast follows the (s)exploits of a lesbian woman and her “youngest and queerest friend,” who is pansexual and non-binary. Each episode features a different guest (mostly comedians) and revolves around the “gay sex they’ve had that week.” It’s funny and raunchy, but it’s also sweet and sex-positive, everyone is open and honest and never judgmental. It also talks about queer sex in an incredible, “normal” way, which is something that is unfortunately rare in most media. Queer sex is never pathologized or exoticized, just straight(lol) forwardly discussed.
This is a great podcast if you’re queer and looking to listen to people like you discussing their lives or offering advice on sex and dating. I’d also highly recommend this podcast if you’re straight, it’s never bad to hear about experiences that are different than yours (while also seeing that queer people, we’re just like you!)
The podcast is definitely NSFW, but these days it doesn’t matter–no one is at work anyway. So, whether you’re driving somewhere or puttering around the house, We’re Having Gay Sex is a great listen. It might sound incredibly familiar or offer insight into things you’ve never experienced. If you have any questions about your sex life, contact us and we can help you navigate through it.
