Hi all. I, along with so many of you, have shared our stories regarding our success with the Botox treatment program for vaginismus. I also wanted to share a medical journal article that shares so much valuable information and includes a story of a patient from Egypt who was successfully treated with the Botox treatment program for vaginismus.

    Link to the Article: http://www.readcube.com/articles/10.4172%2F2167-0420.1000150

The article is co-authored by Dr. Pacik and Dr. Werner, Bat Sheva Marcus, Melissa Ferrara, and Tara Ford of Maze Women’s Sexual Health

The article covers: Defining Vaginismus, the Initial Assessment of the Patient, and the Protocol for what happens during the Botox treatment program for vaginismus. It then goes into the Case Summary and the successful cure of vaginismus for this patient from Egypt.

    The Conclusion reads:

“The injection of Botox and insertion of a dilator under anesthesia with follow up progressive dilation has shown to be a safe and effective treatment for vaginismus. The Botox procedure has helped many women who have tried dilation at home and were either unsuccessful with progression to the larger sized dilators or were too fearful to begin treatment. Most women are able to have pain free intercourse within 2-4 weeks after the procedure. It is important for health care providers to know that traditional dilation, physical therapy and counseling are not the only options available for patients suffering with vaginismus. The Botox procedure coupled with sexuality counseling/education can help the patient conquer vaginismus once and for all.”
