I have secondary vaginismus as I was able to have intercourse and use tampons in an earlier part of my life. My pain started, for reasons still unknown, in mid-February, 2009. At the time I had been dating my then-boyfriend and up until that time I was able to have pain-free intercourse; for the next year or so I experienced mild to moderate pain, and by the time we married in August, 2010, I was unable to have intercourse at all as the pain was so severe. The last time my husband and I had intercourse was on our honeymoon - for some reason, the pain temporarily subsided. I was diagnosed in May, 2011 with vulvodynia by a dermatologist and started using topical creams and lidocaine to help with pain. In August, 2011 I began physical therapy. In the fall of 2011 my husband and I began seeing a sex therapist to figure out the emotional issues that had developed over the years from lack of intimacy and intercourse; it was thru this therapist that we were introduced to Dr. Pacik. Around Christmastime, 2011 we decided that we would try to go to New Hampshire and have the procedure, and set up a Skype consultation with Dr. Pacik. We have planned a trip to the Northeast (we live on the West Coast) and I will under-go the Botox procedure in mid-February, 2012.
